Design-Led Accessibility: Our discoveries from Naidex

Visiting Naidex this year was, once again, a fantastic day but this time, it felt a little different in this year, the best way possible. There was a much wider variety of exhibitors, and alongside the familiar names you expect to see such as WAV providers and wheelchair manufacturers, there was a wave of fresh of brands the kind of thoughtful design and innovation that we love at Never Grey.

SeenIn is a perfect example of that. Their range of children’s aprons and bibs aren’t just designed with real-life use in mind. Everything is highly absorbent, waterproof and comfortable, helping keep children clean and dry during mealtimes or throughout the day, but they are made from colourful fabrics with striking patterns. What I really love is that they don’t just stop there, their wider range of adaptive clothing including items for adults and seamless socks, it’s all about solving everyday challenges whilst considering the individual’s style preferences.

News ways to read

Another innovative brand you’ll find at Never Grey is MIXD Reality who produce augmented reality books to help engage neurodivergent children, while also enhancing learning through reading. Pioneering a new frontier in inclusive storytelling through augmented reality they layer animation, sound, and interactivity onto printed pages, which helps engage neurodivergent children to boost comprehension and encourage reading in a new way.

From the reading experience to everyday inclusivity in the home, Vivette is redefining what accessibility looks and feels like. Founded by an architect and an occupational therapist, the brand is rooted in architectural thinking and material sensitivity, creating beautifully crafted handrails and support features that integrate seamlessly into everyday interiors. Their handrails are designed as furniture, not medical equipment. By challenging the clinical conventions of assistive design, Vivette champions a more human approach to accessibility, one where safety, confidence, and design excellence coexist effortlessly.

A tailored sensory experience

Ali’s Sensory Boxes is another brand we were introduced to at Naidex. This purpose-led brand creates personalised sensory experiences for the neurodivergent community. Launched in memory of a beloved sister and daughter, the brand carries a deeply personal mission: to help neurodivergent individuals feel understood, supported, and empowered through sensory-led wellbeing. Each box is created with care and is tailored to an individual’s age, preferences, and sensory needs. By offering tools that support comfort, regulation, and joy with that dose of dopamine as a surprise, mystery delivery.

From fidgets and ‘chewelry’ to calming sensory aids, every element is thoughtfully selected to provide meaningful support in everyday life. The brand’s flexible, subscription-based model ensures ongoing, adaptive care that evolves with each person’s needs.

Of course, it wasn’t just about new discoveries. It was so good to see some of our already featured brands there too. The exhibition was and busy, I mean really busy. There’s something so reassuring about seeing brands you’ve supported getting the attention they deserve. I hadn’t seen byAcre exhibiting at Naidex before, but they had a lovely open stand showcasing their pastel coloured walkers, and there was a constant flow of interest throughout the day.

And for 2027?

The one brand I didn’t manage to speak to was Active Hands. I’ve been a customer for years and was really hoping to catch up with them and see what’s new but their stand was absolutely packed. At least three or four people deep at all times! It’s no surprise, especially after their recent feature on Dragon’s Den. I’ve always been a supporter, so it was genuinely lovely to see them getting so much attention.

Naidex continues to be such an important event, not just for showcasing innovation, but for highlighting how much the industry is evolving. This year felt more diverse, more creative, and more people-focused than ever before.

I’m already wondering… what incredible brands will we discover next year?
