Born from Lived Experience: The Porto & Bello Story

Porto & Bello was founded out of personal necessity and profound empathy. In March 2020, while pregnant with her second child, founder Alexia was diagnosed with breast cancer. Facing treatment during the onset of the UK lockdown, navigating chemotherapy, surgery, and hospital visits alongside a newborn and a toddler she confronted her hardest days in isolation.

The brand’s unique name came from a moment of reassurance during treatment. Feeling fearful about having a chemo port placed, her nurse offered a piece of gentle wisdom: "Your port is going to make your treatment so much easier, so name it—because it will become your best friend."

Naming her port Portobello sparked a mission: to create port-accessible clothing that brings relief, comfort, and a touch of warmth to anyone facing their own medical mountain.
