Who they are
Founded in 1998 by Ruth Lingard, Fledglings began before the internet and before mobile phone so it was a time when finding products for families with disabled children was particularly difficult and they relied on product prochures and word of mouth.
Fledglings is a non-profit shop that helps children and adults with additional needs by supplying products and equipment that help with everyday challenges. They provide an easy and trusted environment to find the right solutions and allow people to connect and share their experiences.
With a range of clothing and sensory toys and accessories, customers can sort items by condition or browse by category, such as swim, toileting and bedtime so to easily find the item you are looking for. Brands that area available through Fledglings include Billy Footwear and Bundle Bean.
In February 2019, Fledglings joined Contact, the charity for families with disabled children. Founded by families of disabled children, their helpline supports families and through them a community network developed.
