A revolutionary approach to children's mobility aids

3D Mobility is dedicated to expanding access to mobility and independence through opportunity for children to become familiar with mobility aids. Through innovative, community-powered solutions, they collaborate with volunteers to create their flagship product, the Toddler Mobility Trainer (TMT).

Unlike traditional wheelchairs, the Toddler Mobility Trainer (TMT) is purpose-built to support the developmental needs of young children. Designed for indoor use under adult supervision, the TMT enables children to explore their environment, build confidence and develop critical physical and social skills through self-directed mobility.

Every TMT is custom-made to fit the unique needs of each child and they are built by a network of vetted volunteer makers across the United States, combining advanced 3D-printing technology with community support to deliver a personalised mobility solution at no cost to families.

Key features include:

  • adjustable harness system
  • adjustable footrest
  • intuitive hand-powered movement
  • exceptional stability
  • lightweight yet durable construction
  •  easy-to-clean surfaces

Suited to children aged 1–8 years old (weighing up to 50 pounds) who need assistance with independent movement, the compact design that allows for effortless indoor manoeuvrability and quick transfers in and out of the the trainer.  Following approval, most devices are completed within 2–4 weeks and parents receive ongoing updates throughout the process so there is reassurance offered at every stage.

The TMT is a mobility trainer rather than a certified medical device so no prescription is required but families are encouraged to consult with paediatricians, physical therapists, or occupational therapists to determine whether it is suitable for the individual child's needs.

What stands out to us at Never Grey is through the power of a volunteer network, innovative manufacturing and a commitment to equitable access, the TMT can be available at no cost to the family. 3D Mobility is helping more children experience the freedom, confidence, and developmental benefits that come from independent movement.

Never Grey's mission is rooted in accessibility and inclusion and while families may choose to self-fund a build, payment is never expected or required and these mobility trainers are funded through donations and community-led projects. Making these mobility trainers available to every family whose child can benefit makes this brand's model truly inclusive.
